Subject: Plowing portions of the path?

Has running a sidewalk plow down some of the more urban/suburban portions of the canal path ever been considered? I work at the University of Rochester, live out in Pittsford and bike to work when the path is clear, generally April through the middle December with a few winter days if we get a good melt. There are quite a few of us here at the UR and Strong Hospital bike commuting. It occurs to me that here in the Rochester area there is rarely enough snow on the path to XC ski (I'm a big XC skier as well) or snowshoe but there is often too much snow, or more likely clumpy ice, to pass easily on a bike. I feel that in this day and age it is important for us to all look for ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and the easy commute on the canal path is a great resource we could extend another 30% of the year with a little plowing.
